Understanding Console States

The CMS console can appear in different states while you work.

The console can be expanded, collapsed, undocked, and redocked while you work.

Available States

Expanded is the standard console view. In this state, section names, tool labels, and the user area are visible.

Collapsed keeps the console available while reducing the amount of screen space it uses.

Undocked allows the console to float separately from the side of the screen. The undocked state is primarily used while editing content. Access to system tools and plugins require the console to be docked.

Use the console state controls near the top of the console to collapse, expand, undock, or redock the console.

Console state affects how the console is displayed. It does not change your permissions, the current page, or the tools available to your account.
