Creating and Editing Takeover Alerts

Takeover alerts appear as modal pop-ups over the website. Visitors must dismiss the alert before continuing to use the page.

The controls you see depend on your CMS permissions. Users with restricted permissions may not be able to access all features.

Takeover Alert Fields

  • The Title is required and is used only inside the CMS. It is not displayed to the public.
  • Type controls where the takeover alert displays. Use Global for a sitewide alert. Use Partial or Exact when the alert should display only for specific pages.
  • Alert Message is the public takeover alert content. This field uses a rich text editor so the message can include formatting, links, and other supported content.
  • Start Date is required. The alert begins displaying on the start date.
  • End Date is optional. Use it when the alert should automatically stop displaying after a specific date.
  • Background Color and Text Color control the visual appearance of the takeover alert.

Keep takeover alert content focused. Because takeover alerts interrupt the visitor, they should be used for messages that require immediate attention.

Creating A Takeover Alert

The takeover alert detail view is used to create a new takeover alert.

To create a takeover alert:

  1. Open the Alerts Manager from the Plugins accordion.
  2. Click Add Takeover Alert.
  3. Enter a Title.
  4. Choose the Type.
  5. Enter the Alert Message.
  6. Set the Start Date.
  7. Set an End Date if the alert should stop displaying on a specific date.
  8. Choose the Background Color and Text Color.
  9. Click Submit.

Editing A Takeover Alert

To edit an existing takeover alert:

  1. Open the Alerts Manager from the Plugins accordion.
  2. Find the alert in the Takeover Alerts list.
  3. Click the alert's Edit button.
  4. Update the needed fields.
  5. Click Submit.
